そしてその中の土をゆんぼで掘って、高い所から低い所に土を移して、なるべく平らにしていった。
この時に、前のキャビンの水タンクのパイプが出てきたり、さらにびっくりしたのが、いじられていない土だと思っていたところから、ものすごーい古そうなごみがでてきた。蜜柑缶とか、怪しい液体が入ってた洗剤の瓶とか、何十年前の物か分からないけど、少なくとも私たちが生まれる前の物。やっぱりゴミはなかなか分解しない。なるべくゴミを出さないように努力しようと改めて思った。ポイ捨てなんてもっての他ですな。
全体に土が均等に広がってからは、実際にキャビンが立つ位置を測り、糸で示していった。
これが終わったら、キャビンの四隅に塩と酒（長野の地酒、松尾）を撒いた。こんなものまで用意してもらえるなんて知らなかった!
キャビンが火事にならないように、無事に建ちますように、祈りながら撒きました。
We began the second day of construction today. Yesterday was mostly measuring, measuring, measuring, to make sure that we build the cabin within the designated lot, and keep everything straight and parallel. There are two people helping us with making the foundation. We decided it would be best to have professionals do the foundation and us help in areas we can, and stay out of the way in places where we will be… well, in the way. Obviously, the foundation is very important and everything must be measured by the millimeter. We were told that especially in plumbing, if the foundation is off by even a millimeter, it can be problematic. I guess just as in everything else in life, a strong foundation is crucial. After measuring the height, they took the shovel truck and spread the dirt to make the surface even. After digging a bit, we dug up an area that was outside where the cabin used to be thinking it was untouched soil, but to our surprise, we dug up cans and bottles from who knows when. They must be at least a few decades old… really makes you think about how long it takes for garbage to really break down. After we measured where the actual cabin will stand, we spread salt and sake around the four corners for good luck. Hopefully we won’t burn this cabin down. :)
